Girls Golf Results

The Wayne High Lady Blue Devil golf team traveled to Stanton on Thursday for the Stanton Invite. Wayne was one of the eleven teams to compete in the cool and breezy 18-hole event. The Lady Blue Devils got off to a good start on the first few holes and then battled the trees all day. Elkhorn Acres in Stanton is a great test of ball striking and creativity as you punch around the trees. Through the ups and downs of the round, Wayne would post very similar front and back nine scores, both 212s for an 18-hole total of 424. The Lady Blue Devils continue to grow and improve over the first three weeks of the season. Wayne's 424 was good enough for 2nd place, just 4 strokes behind first. Leading the way individually for Wayne was Stanton's Individual Champion Carli Canham with a score of 91. Follow Canham was 5th place medalist Hallie Heithold (102), 8th place medalist Rylynn Owen (106), and Claire Reinke (125). Wayne will now have ten days off before traveling to Battle Creek on Monday, September 18.

"I am extremely happy how our team scores continue to come down. We have gone from 439 to 424 in three short weeks. I am really proud of how the girls strive each day to get better. The girls are working extremely hard and I look forward to working on us this next week." -- Coach Josh Johnson
