Girls' Golf Results

The Wayne High girls golf team traveled to Battle Creek Monday for an invitational.  The Lady Blue Devils had to shake off a little bit of rust as the day began.  Luckily by the end of the front nine Wayne had found a bit of a groove.  Four girls medaled lead by runner up Joslyn Johnson (86).  Other medalists were 5th place Charli Sievers (97), 11th Lindsay Niemann (103) and 12th Carli Canham (105).  Other scorer for the was Rylynn Owen with a personal best 122.  Wayne will next travel to Hartington Thursday for a triangular and then Albion on Saturday.

“I was really pleased with how the girls fought through a day where they were not necessarily playing their best. They really had to grind it out and do whatever it took and they were able to that. Back to work tomorrow and clean some things up before Thursday.” — Coach Johnson

The Wayne High Lady Blue Devils traveled to Stanton Thursday for the Stanton Invitational.  Wayne battled the wind and the trees to pick up the victory in the 11 team invitational shooting a team score of 385.  The Lady Blue Devils also picked up the top 4 spots in the medal part of the tournament.  Leading the way for Wayne was Stanton Invitiational champion Joslyn Johnson shooting a 93 followed by Runner Up Carli Canham (94), 3rd place Lindsay Niemann (99), and 4th place Charli Sievers (102 -- she won the playoff over Holly Patefield).  Other scorers were Rylynn Owen (137), Hallie Heithold (132) and Addison Sharpe (138).

"I am super proud of how the girls battled on a tough course on a hot and windy day.  We are getting better every day.  If we keep working hard and not settle for where we are this team will be fun to watch in September." -- Coach Johnson
