Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe 7th grade Boys’ basketball team played in a three-team round robin tournament in Wayne on Saturday.
In their first game, Wayne fell to Howells-Dodge 34-32 in OT.
Colston Starzl led Wayne in scoring with 11 points. Also scoring for the Devils were Liam Rockhill (5), Remyngton Fregoso (4), Jacob Francis (4), Easton Gamble (2), Carson Heiser (2), Kash Haase (2) and Mason Kramer (2).
Howells-Dodge then fell to Hartington Cedar Catholic, 42-39 to finish the tournament 1-1.
In the final game, Wayne used a 13-4 final quarter to come from behind and defeat HCC 29-24. All three teams finished at 1-1 for the day, but Wayne was awarded first place due to the tiebreaker, least points allowed.
Colston Starzl poured in 17 points to lead the Devils. Jacob Francis (4 points), Liam Rockhill (3), Remyngton Fregoso (3), and Kash Haase (2) also scored for Wayne.
In the 8th grade division, in the first game against Howells-Dodge they won 42-25. Scoring was Jaheim Hamik with 12, followed by Easton Endicott and Hunter Nolte (8), Angel Vargas (5), Theo Claussen (4), Evan Greve (3), and Carter Mostek (2).
In the first place game the boys played against Hartington Cedar Catholic.In a game that was close throughout, the Blue Devils lost 45-34. Jaheim Hamik led all scorers with 24 points. Also scoring was Angel Vargas and Theo Claussen both with 5 each.
